Grant Opportunity: Addressing Health Disparities in NIDDK Diseases (R01)

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks research to improve understanding of the causes of high priority diseases in the United States and to develop and test more effective interventions for reducing/eliminating health disparities. Research is encouraged in the following high priority diseases within the scientific mission areas of the NIDDK: diabetes, obesity, nutrition-related disorders, hepatitis C, gallbladder disease, H. Pylori infection, sickle cell disease, kidney diseases, urologic diseases, hematologic diseases, metabolic, gastrointestinal, hepatic, and renal complications from infection with HIV.

AMP SoCal: Proposal Effort for Material Science

The Advanced Manufacturing Partnership of Southern California (AMP SoCal) is planning to pursue an NSF planning grant for an Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) that is focused on advanced manufacturing and materials. AMP SoCal pursued this grant last year unsuccessfully, and they are taking another run at it. CI was represented in the past effort, and it would be good if we could be part of the new proposal, too. Grant Opportunity: i6 Challenge, Economic Development Agency

"[A] total of $15 million in Federal funding is available to create and expand cluster-focused proof-of-concept and commercialization programs and early-stage seed capital funds through the i6 Challenge and the Seed Fund Support (SFS) Grant competition, respectively. Under this FFO, $13 million is available for i6 Challenge grants and $2 million is available for SFS grants."

From the solicitation's web page, "The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Western Geographic Science Center (WGSC) is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for the development of a Django-based web application for visualization and sharing of land-use scenario data. The web application will interact with scenario results managed in the SyncroSim database, via the SyncroSim API and will combine an interactive web map for visualizing land-use data over the landscape, with the capability to graph a range of scenarios over time."

Grant Opportunity: NASA and engineering

A funding opportunity for those in computer science and engineering. From the solicitation's web page, "This initiative allows universities and university-led partnerships to provide strategic leadership that advances ARMD's research objectives and promotes education of the next generation of engineers. Proposers will identify technical challenges and research activities that will contribute to the six strategic thrusts provided in the ARMD Strategic Implementation Plan."

Of interest to some CI faculty is Topic 6: Assured Autonomy for Aviation Transformation, which appears to allude to the integration of UAS into the national airspace.
